What happens when Catholics visit a Young Life camp?
“I can honestly say I have never heard the core gospel message so powerfully communicated to a group of young people.” These are the words of Bishop Patrick Neary in a new video below that he created to share with the 121 Catholic parishes in the Diocese of St. Cloud, Minn.
In the video and in a recent Relationships Journal article, Bishop Pat shares his passion to reach young people. He recalls his visit to Young Life’s Washington Family Ranch. He addresses the fears Catholics have about partnering with Young Life – and then encourages Catholics everywhere to jump in and volunteer.
What happens when Catholics visit a Young Life camp? They start dreaming about Catholic and Protestant adults going out into the community together to accompany thousands of teenagers who may not be growing in their faith or who may not have faith. Going together, Catholic and Protestant adults participate in the heart of Jesus who prayed “that they may be one so the world would know” (John 17:21-23).
