| Dear RVer,
In November, those of us in the United States celebrate a time of thanksgiving. We also celebrate all things cooking! The holidays are upon us, and that means it’s time to prepare cherished family recipes to warm us up in cooler temps. RVers and others may want to try unique ways to cook these seasonal meals.

| When we had to have our RV windshield replaced a few months ago, FMCA was there with the RV windshield replacement program. Through FMCA's partnership with Custom Glass Solutions Network, we were able to get our RV windshield replaced fast with the exact OEM windshield that was installed on our coach at the Winnebago factory.

| Hot Off The Griddle...err, Grill?
| |
| You may have spotted one of these at your neighbors’ campsite. Blackstone griddles are the “must have” item for many RVers right now. Combining a grill and griddle in one, they are versatile and come in a variety of sizes – tabletop, stand-up cooking stations, or combination units. Camping chefs (pro or amateur) can whip up everything from a pancake breakfast of champions to hibachi-style stir-fry dishes and grilled meat feasts.
Blackstone has a popular online following, and the company encourages owners to swap recipes (check out their huge Instagram following). If you’re considering purchasing a Blackstone of your own, or if you want to add it to your wish list for Santa, check out the blog our friends at RV Family Travel Atlas wrote: “Which Blackstone Griddle Is Right for You?”

| As November waddles in, we can’t help but think of all the yummy food and celebrations coming. If you can’t make it home for the holidays — or prefer to keep on rollin’ — here are some food festivals around the U.S. and Canada that will have you saying, “Where are my eating pants?”
1. If you’re near New York on Nov. 6, check out The Great Chefs event in NYC, with benefits going to fight childhood cancer. The eats look tasty, and you’ll see some familiar faces from TV, too!
2. For our plant-based friends out there, Miami hosts Seed Food and Wine Week from Nov. 7-10. USA Today lists this as a Top 5 Food and Wine Festival.
3. Check out 90+ vendors with unique products you won’t find anywhere else at Emporiyum in Washington, D.C., from Nov. 8-10. They recommend buying tickets in advance.
4. Traveling through Canada this November? Stop in Montreal on Nov. 12 for Tasting Climate Change and see the effects of climate change on wine production.
5. Films, wine, and food — California combines these at the Napa Valley Film Festival from Nov. 13-17.

Treme Creole Gumbo Festival

| 6. Spend an extended time in Whistler, British Columbia, for Cornucopia from Nov. 7-17. From a comedy show to brunch, find food events daily.
7. Dance over to New Orleans and check out the Treme Creole Gumbo Festival from Nov. 16-17.
8. Head south between Nov. 18-24 and grab tickets for Palmetto Bluff’s 13th helping of Music to Your Mouth in Bluffton, South Carolina. With music, Southern family cooking, and a chef whose last name is Bacon, you’re bound to find something you enjoy.
9. Lastly, from Nov. 1 – Dec. 12 in various locations: The Whisky Extravaganza. Need we say more?

| Food Safety
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” This wise nugget certainly applies to handling, preparing, and storing food. To avoid food poisoning, the U.S. Department of Agriculture lists cooking temps for specific foods, and advises how long to refrigerate and freeze foods. For tips, food recalls and more, click here.
