Tallowood Times | Remember Tallowood Tomorrow

Dear Community of Joy "They will know we are Christians by our love..." Remember that song? Straight from the Savior we learn that people will know we are His by the way we love each other. This is why we are spending this year focusing on relationships. In the last five weeks God has added 40 new members to our congregation. Our ability to assimilate these new members and the others God is bringing will surely set the course for our future together.

Our celebration of the first decade of the Greater Houston Burmese Christian Fellowship on Sunday reminded me of the importance of relationships. We stood to worship together. I will never forget Joel singing with May, the worship leader of our sister congregation. She recently lost two nephews in a waterfall accident in Burma. Those teens were found the next day holding on to each other. I wept as she sang, "When the oceans rise and thunder roars, I will soar with you above the storm. I will be still and know you are God."

The future of our church depends on our ability to live and share the good news of Jesus Christ as a community of disciples. In this turbulent time, the world is watching what we do. So whatever we do, let us love each other fervently. Let us give our lives and our gifts to God and watch him continue to use us in this city. Our choir sang beautifully Sunday: "Our God is God." I know He is God. I am so glad He is ours and we are His. In the next service we sang, "Greater things have yet to come, greater things are still to be done in this city." Let's work together and love one another and watch what our great God and mighty Savior does!

With Unflinching Hope,

Duane
