1 Corinthians 2:1-2
And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.  For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
New International Version (NIV)
Eugene Peterson wrote, "The proper work for a Christian is witness, not apology."   Paul stood on the Areopagus in Athens and brilliantly bore witness of Jesus' death and resurrection to the intelligentsia of that great Greek city.  A few believed.  When Paul left there to go to neighboring Corinth, he shifted his strategy.  Instead of engaging at the level of apologetics, defending the faith, he decided when he went to Corinth to focus on what he knew about Christ and his crucifixion.

Christianity is not anti-intellectual.  We are charged to love God with our whole minds.  Some of the smartest people in the world are followers of Christ.  How do we engage culture?  Not by arguing but by bearing witness to the truth and the transformation Christ is working in our own lives.  Jesus did not tell the early believers, "You will be my defenders," but "You will be my witnesses."

What have we learned about Jesus and his crucifixion?  How will we share this good news with others today?  One changed life is better than a thousand arguments.
 Pray with me:
Father, we thank you for the good news we have heard about Jesus.  Help us not to keep it to ourselves today.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
