The International Student Support Initiative (ISSI) is a centralized, coordinated, and comprehensive hub for NYU’s international student community. A collaboration between the Office of Global Services (OGS) and the Center for Student Life (CSL), ISSI is dedicated to not only support international students at NYU, but also to provide resources and expertise to create academic, co-curricular, and social opportunities for sustained, cross-cultural learning.

International Student Culture Discussion
Do you want to meet new friends and learn about cultures around the world? Then join us for the March edition of the International Student Culture Discussion! For those who are new, this is a conversation-based event in which we discuss a new cultural topic each month. This month’s topic will be dance & music. Come and learn something new – and share some facts about your own culture! We politely request that you sign up only if you’re able to attend the full one-hour session (believe us, time flies!) Pastries from local establishments will be provided. We can’t wait to see you!

After you've received your new OPT I-20, you should attend this session where an OGS advisor will go over how to prepare your OPT application for USCIS. Attend this session to make sure your OPT application meets all the guidelines, before you submit it to USCIS!

Happy March everyone! The Center for Student Life would like to invite you to join this week’s “Cultural Theme Month” edition of our English Conversation and Culture groups. This Wednesday, we’ll be talking about Women’s History Month. Come by Kimmel 704 to practice your English skills while also learning more about and honoring the contributions of African Americans to US history. English Conversation and Culture is an interactive and informative series that’s hosted by Allen McFarlane, NYU’s assistant VP of Outreach and Engagement, in collaboration with ISSI. This is a safe space that is open to all to just learn and practice; so, leave your notebooks and laptops at home, just bring yourself!

Nonresident Tax Workshop by Sprintax
Get an overview of tax for nonresident students and scholars, including who must file a 2022 US tax return, what income forms students/scholars may receive, and forms that need to be completed and sent to the IRS. Learn terms like FICA, ITIN and Form 1098-T, what happens if students don’t file, or misfile, details on state tax returns, IRS stimulus payments and how to use Sprintax to file your nonresident tax paperwork.
