OPT Application Review SessionsOnce you've received your new OPT I-20 and your application is ready to send, you should attend this OPT application review session where an OGS advisor will go over all OPT application documents in detail, and you can make sure your documents meet the application guidelines. Know Your Rights: Encounters with Law Enforcement
What are your rights if you are stopped by the police in public? What are your rights if ICE knocks on your door? Can your free speech be restricted because of what you say? Wondering if you have a right to protest? If you do participate in a protest, rally, or demonstration, what are some things to consider? Wondering what your rights are in these situations and what to do if your rights have been violated? Join us to learn about your rights in situations involving law enforcement both in public and private spaces. This session is open to all in the NYU community with a focus on information and resources specifically for international students.

Australia's Global Talent Program Info Session!
Australia’s Global Talent Program seeks to support the international mobility of highly talented individuals, innovators and entrepreneurs. The program is designed to accelerate growth in seven future focused target sectors within Australia: AgTech, FinTech, MedTech, Cyber Security, Space & Advanced Manufacturing, Quantum Info/Advanced Digital/Data Science/ICT, and Energy & Mining Technology.
Come to this session to learn about what the Global Talent Program offers (hint: a streamlined Australian visa pathway with permanent residency on grant of visa). The program is open to recent (within 3 years) high performing master’s & PhD graduates, as well as PhD students who will be submitting their thesis within 6 months.

Understanding US Elections
Now scheduled for October 21st, join us in conversation with presidential historian and Wagner professor Tim Naftali, to discuss voting in the United States. From a brief history of voting in the US, to a summary of the branches of US government and political parties, Professor Naftali will provide a context of the US election system and process.

Tenement Museum Virtual Tour
The Tenement Museum, located in the Lower East Side in New York City, showcases the city's vibrant urban immigrant history. Since we can't go together in person, we are bringing the experience to you wherever you are.
During a live, online interactive event, Museum Educators will take you into the apartment of one of the families that lived in 97 Orchard Street. Through a private Zoom meeting, you'll see video, images, and have the chance to interact through chat.

Free Flu Shots!The Student Health Center offers free flu shots to all NYU students at the NYU Flu Clinic, a new space at 726 Broadway where students can get a free flu shot without entering a healthcare setting! We have enhanced protocols in place to protect students and providers.
During COVID-19, it’s more important than ever for us all to stay healthy and keep each other safe. An annual flu shot is the best way to protect yourself and others from getting the flu.

International Student Council Student Mentorship ProgramNYU ISC is launching their first International Student Mentorship Program that is designed for first year graduate and undergraduate students! This is their effort to help new incoming international students to adjust to NYU (especially during such an unusual semester). Every mentee will be assigned a mentor who will check in with you once every two weeks to make sure you’re doing well and will always be available to help you when you have questions and may need some support.

Leadership Essentials: An Online SeriesMaking leadership development more accessible to any student at NYU, the Leadership Essentials series offers short videos, worksheets and self-assessment exercises, as well as virtual office hours where participants can ask questions and gain feedback on progress.
Through this online series, you will foster a sense of personal purpose, craft a narrative with the power to gain support for you and your work, and strategize how to build out your networks with intention. Worksheet prompts and virtual office hours will help you apply the concepts learned in the videos to your own life. Participants who complete all three learning modules and corresponding evaluations will earn a certificate of completion from the NYU Leadership Initiative. Learn more and get started here!
