WDS 2025-2027 Action Plan |
The World Data System is excited to announce the release of its 2025-2027 Action Plan. This plan outlines strategic initiatives and key objectives that will guide WDS’s efforts over the next three years, aiming to enhance global data management and sharing practices.

First Round of Delphi Study Closing |
One week left for the first phase of the delphi survey on the value-added benefits of data repositories that was launched by the World Data System (WDS) and its Scientific Committee in mid-February! The ultimate goal of this project is to demonstrate the value of repositories in serving the needs of researchers, funders, policy-makers and other stakeholders. The survey will take approximately 30-60 minutes.
Please complete if you haven't already, and spread the word.
The deadline for this first phase of the survey is 12 March 2025.

Update from ISRIC - WDC-Soils |
ISRIC – World Soil Information (WDC-Soils) has recently joined DataONE, a community driven programme providing access to data across multiple member repositories, supporting enhanced search and discovery of Earth and environmental data. Read more here.
As a result of this collaboration, the user community now can also freely query/access ISRIC-hosted metadata through the DataONE portal below.

SciDataCon Call for Sessions and Abstracts Continue |
SciDataCon 2025, organized by the two data bodies of the International Science Council, CODATA and World Data System, is continuing to accept submissions for session organizers and paper or poster presenters for IDW 2025. SciDataCon provides a platform for researchers, data scientists, and policymakers to discuss pressing issues in data science.
Submissions should address one or more of the following overarching themes:

- CAREful Indigenous Data Governance
- Rigorous, responsible, and reproducible science in the era of FAIR data and AI
- Open research through Interconnected, Interoperable, and Interdisciplinary Data

International Science Council Centre for Science Futures Webinar
|
The ISC Centre for Science Futures will be presenting on the Science Systems Futures project, followed by case studies from experts, and closing with an open discussion. The launch event is open to everyone who is interested in this topic. Participants can expect to learn from international experts about:

Final Call: Enter the Koala Competition for a Chance to Win Free IDW2025 Registration
|
We can’t wait to welcome you to Brisbane, but before you visit, we want to see the IDW 2025 koala in your home country! Take a picture of yourself with a koala in front of a famous landmark or even just your favorite spot in your hometown or home country.
You will go into the drawing to win one of two complimentary full registrations to IDW 2025. One of the winners will be chosen by the IDW 2025 Organizing Committee and the other will be a People’s Choice Award, both will be awarded in early 2025. The shortlisted entries will be featured in a future ezine where delegates will be able to vote for our People’s Choice Winner.

CLARIN-CH Training Sessions |
Starting on 10 March, CLARIN-CH is organizing a series of training sessions designed to introduce the CLARIN ecosystem and its resources for language data research. Covering topics such as corpus querying, media data collection, multimodal data modeling, and data sharing, the sessions will provide hands-on insights into key tools and methodologies that may be useful for researchers working with language data.

Two European Plate Observing System (EPOS) experts will discuss the many practical challenges that need to be overcome when integrating data from so many data providers and sub communities to offer an integrated dataspace in the domain of solid earth science and some services for researchers. Their presentation will give insight about the challenges experienced research infrastructure builders are faced with.

| Feedback Needed for SDG Classifier Demonstrator |
The SDG Classifier Demonstrator is a tool designed to support publishers in aligning with the goals of the SDG Publishers Compact, which encourages categorizing published content to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The SDG Classifier uses a pre-configured algorithm to evaluate content against specific SDG targets, then returns the number and name of all SDGs that the text matches. Stakeholders and publishers are invited to test the tool with sample data and offer feedback.

Call for Proposals: Processing and Securing Research Data in Collaboration with Text+ |
Text+ is part of the German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) with the goal of establishing a distributed research data infrastructure for humanities research data. This call aims to continuously expand the offerings of data and services provided by Text+ and make them available to the research community long-term.

Launch and Call for Papers of New Oral Archives Journal (OAr) |
The first issue of the new open access, peer-reviewed Oral Archives Journal (OAr), published by Firenze University Press and USiena Press, has been released. The journal is dedicated to all the aspects of oral archives –from their creation to their dissemination and reuse– and aims to foster collaboration and exchange among scholars, researchers, and cultural institutions dealing with oral sources. The journal's collaboration with the CLARIN-IT consortium further strengthens its potential to contribute to the advancement of research and the preservation of oral heritage. The call for papers for the second issue is currently open.

Findable Accessible Interoperable Reusable Open Science (FAIROS) Program |
The FAIROS Program is accepting proposals for funding. It supports a broad range of transformative open science activities including but not limited to:
1. Research, education, and socio-technical cyberinfrastructure development capacities that advance sustainable multi-disciplinary findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable (FAIR) research data management (RDM) and open science capabilities
2. Piloting new models of scientific communication and publication that improve efficiency and accessibility
3. Developing FAIROS data portals, research data commons, RDM as a national service
4. Lowering barriers to accessing, curating, integrating, linking, managing, sharing, and storing data across many disciplinary domains, irrespective of data size
The FAIROS Program is undertaken in support of the US National Science Foundation (NSF) Public Access Initiative.
Proposal submissions are due 9 April 2025.

Applications Now Open: Helsinki Digital Humanities Hackathon 2025 |
The 10th anniversary of the award-winning hackathon offers an exciting chance to collaborate and innovate. The CLARIN and DARIAH summer school will be organized as an in-person event. Participation is free to all accepted participants, and bursaries for travel and lodging are offered.
5 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits may be gained from participating in the hackathon. Save the date!

Call for Papers: CMC-Corpora 2025 |
The International Conference on Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) and Social Media Corpora for the Humanities brings together language-centered research on CMC and social media in linguistics, philologies, communication sciences, media, and social sciences with research questions from the fields of corpus and computational linguistics, language technology, text technology, and machine learning.
