NOW ENROLLING FOR FALL 2020 SHOWS
School of Rock New Canaan is excited to announce our FALL 2020/WINTER 2021  Programs! We will be offering FIVE different Performance Programs, FOUR Rock 101 sessions and our NEW Songwriting Program! Each performance program has a different theme and rehearses on a different day, so you have a choice on which program is best for you. We are now enrolling students age 7-18 on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and vocals!!
Our signature Rock Performance Program for students ages 9-18 y/o. The program is designed to get students playing together in a fun, interactive environment. The program includes a weekly 45 min. private lesson and a weekly 3 hour band rehearsal.
Our Rock 101 Program for students ages 7-9 y/o. The program teaches our young musicians the fundamentals of their instrument while playing with a band in a positive and fun atmosphere. It  includes a weekly 45 min private lesson and a weekly 1 hour band rehearsal.
Our NEW Songwriting Program for kids 12 and up with at least an intermediate level of proficiency on their instrument of choice. This program will teach students how to write an original song from scratch, through learning the fundamentals of songwriting, arrangement, and music theory. Students have one weekly 45-minute private lesson on an instrument of their choice where they learn concepts, technique and theory. These principles are then applied in weekly 2-hour group lessons where students work together on songwriting exercises, lyrical workshops, and band rehearsals. Each student will complete their own original song, and the group will perform everyone’s songs at the end-of-season show!
During this time, the health and safety of our staff, students, and families is of primary importance.  We will be moving the start date for our Fall programs earlier than usual so we have more time to rehearse in case we need to make any potential adjustments to remote lessons/rehearsals. We are reserving spots for students who cannot sign up until September. If you cannot participate in early rehearsals you are still encouraged to enroll, just let us know of your start date when enrolling. All programs will also have one mid-season preview show in November. This will give students the opportunity to perform live in case we have to go remote. The Performance Program rehearsals will be planned and structured in a way that there will be no more than 10 students rehearsing at a time. For more detail, please read our School of Rock New Canaan COVID Protocols.

THE POLICE created a diverse catalog of innovative rock music that incorporated elements of punk, reggae, jazz, and ska in ingenious ways. Whether you're a drummer taking on Stewart Copeland's impossibly amazing drum technique, a guitarist exploring Andy Summers' diverse tone palate, a vocalist or bassist taking on Sting's amazing songwriting, or a keyboard player filling in crucial textures, this is a great and challenging show for any student. SONGWRITING Creating original songs can be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences for musicians. School of Rock’s Songwriting Program teaches the fundamentals of songwriting, arranging, and performance in an interactive group-class setting. Through exercises, activities, and hands-on experiential training, students will learn to articulate and express creative ideas, overcome writer’s block, analyze songwriting technics, collaborate with others, and accept constructive criticism, all while writing, arranging and performing their own original songs.
The Songwriting Program is a brand new offering at School of Rock, and will be the perfect addition to our Performance Programs. Simultaneously, these two programs will challenge your student both technically and creatively. Students looking to enroll in both programs this season will be offered a discounted “add-on” price for Songwriting!
Our Rock 101 is the ultimate band experience for beginners ages 7-9 years old. Rock 101 is designed to teach band basics and starter stage craft to students who are newcomers to their instruments. This setlist of specifically selected songs includes classic and modern rock staples that teach them essential elements to get them on the fast track to our Performance Program. The best part is they'll share the big stage with the seasoned performers when they put on a full fledged rock show at the end of the season!.
The program includes: a weekly 45 min private music lesson and a weekly one hour band rehearsal to get students prepared for real shows and real-life performances on stage.
