Blouin Scholars Class of 2026 Connects with Communities Across Rust Belt |
|
|
This summer, the Blouin Scholars Class of 2026 embarked on a domestic trip, visiting Detroit, Ontario, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh. They explored various community responses to neighborhood development and engaged with organizations focused on enhancing learning opportunities.
Their itinerary included visits to the University of Michigan-Detroit Center, King's University in London, Ontario, The Working Centre in Kitchener, Ontario, and the Manchester Bidwell Corporation in Pittsburgh. In Buffalo, the group attended Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral and enjoyed a welcoming fellowship with the parishioners afterward. Through these experiences, the scholars formed meaningful connections with people across the Rust Belt. | Read More

Field Botany Class Completes 17th Year with Service Learning and Outreach |
Dr. Jennifer Clevinger's BIO 315 Field Botany class just returned from five days and four nights of botanizing and service learning at HopeWood Pines Camp in Fulton, Ohio. The class also led field biology activities for 250 Lake Elementary third graders who visited Walsh on May 16 and 17. This was the 17th year for the Field Botany course which emphasizes plant identification, science outreach and invasive species removal.

2024 Athletic Wall of Fame Nominations Open, Now – July 7 |
Get ready to honor some outstanding athletes because the nomination process for the 2024 Athletic Wall of Fame is officially underway! Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 21, during Maroon and Gold Weekend. That’s when we will be hosting a morning brunch to celebrate our standout Scholar-Athletes.
Right now, we are looking for nominations that meet the following criteria: Must have graduated from Walsh at least five years ago; Received All-Conference recognition or any level of Regional or National Recognition; Exemplified the spirit of Walsh University Athletics and made significant contributions to the community as a Scholar-Athlete; and Continues to make a positive impact on their community even after graduation. Hoover Park Festival, July 14 |
|
|
Bring the whole family out to the fourth-annual Hoover Park Festival on Sunday, July 14 from 1-5 p.m. This free community event celebrates the impact and legacy of The Hoover Company and Hoover employees. Enjoy history presentations, children’s storytelling, an hour-long performance of the Canton Community Band, a plant sale, train rides for kids and adults, tours of the Hoover Historical Center, displays from local history organizations, the Stark County Beekeeper’s Association, and the North Canton Public Library as well as food trucks, vintage cars and more!

Dr. Britt Cooper, Coordinator of Visual and Performing Arts, Professor of Choral Music, has received news that an original composition for children’s choir, entitled “Good News - A Hymn for Christian Education,” has been accepted for publication with Chorister's Guild, one of the largest publishing houses for choral music in the United States. Publication is slated for the Spring of 2025.
