Exciting Campus Improvements Ahead
Dear St. Michael’s Families,
While summer is often a time to pause and recharge, it will also be a season of exciting transformation here at St. Michael’s as we prepare for an incredible 2025–26 school year. I’m thrilled to share two campus improvement projects that will enrich our Dragons’ daily experience: a complete renovation of our Middle School Allen Library and Maker Space, and a refresh of the Ellen Passmore Singleton Gymnasium.
Middle School Library & Maker Space Transformation
As the heart of the Middle School, our library is more than just a place for books—it’s a central hub for learning, exploration, and creativity. This summer, it will be reimagined as a flexible, future-ready space designed to meet the diverse needs of our students and faculty. The renovation will include new carpet, lighting, furniture, and a redesigned circulation desk, all set within a calming, nature-inspired color palette of blues, greens, and browns that reflects our beautiful 70-acre campus and other buildings.
This vibrant new space will support a wide range of activities—quiet reading, collaborative projects, digital exploration, and hands-on innovation. Improvements will include a:
- Quiet Lounge for individual study and reflection
- New Librarian Help Area and circulation desk
- Work Lounge with versatile table seating
- Collaboration Lounge for group work
- Open Classroom Area for flexible instruction
- Design/STEAM Hub with podcasting studios, educational content creation zones, and desktop workstations for video/audio editing and CAD design
Mobile shelving will make the library collection more accessible and adaptable, while inviting new seating areas will encourage a love of reading and discovery. Better sight lines and clearly defined zones will elevate the space as both a place for academic rigor and creative expression. In short, this new library will be a dynamic learning hub where students can explore their interests, build essential skills, and prepare for the future.
Ellen Passmore Singleton Gymnasium Refresh
Thanks to the incredible generosity shown during this year’s Auction Raise the Paddle, we are also thrilled to announce upgrades to the Ellen Passmore Singleton Gym. This space will be revitalized to support student wellness, school spirit, and community connection.
Improvements will include:
- New telescoping bleachers for enhanced safety, space usage management, and spectator comfort
- A new rock climbing wall to foster perseverance, strength, problem-solving, fitness, and fun
- A new, much-needed outdoor scoreboard on Balzer Athletic Field
- Fresh paint, spirit graphics, and updated furnishings to modernize and energize the environment
Whether it’s during PE classes, pep rallies, athletic competitions, or all-school events, our students will benefit from a more inspiring and engaging gym—a space that promotes confidence, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits.
These projects reflect our ongoing commitment to providing students with exceptional learning environments where they can grow, thrive, and dream big! Your generosity makes this possible, and we are so grateful for the continued support of our vibrant and dedicated St. Michael’s community.
We cannot wait to see our Dragons' reactions this fall as they step into these refreshed and revitalized spaces—and to witness the fun, learning, and inspiration that will unfold within them.
Thank you for your support, your excitement, and your partnership. It is, without question, an incredible time to be at St. Michael’s!
Warmly,
Bob Gregg, Head of School
