Welcome Week
The
full calendar of events is available online, both on the web and through the Events App. Commuters are encouraged and invited to attend ALL Welcome Week events, but all incoming new students are expected to attend the following programs on Friday, August 25, 2017.
Friday, August 25, 2017
9 am: Convocation ceremony. Commuters will meet at 8:30am at the Armstrong Student Center Shade Family Room (front entrance) to walk over together. Please bring a bottle of water with you, as the weather may be warm, and note that you will likely be sitting in the grass!
10:15 am: Summer Reading Program Discussion Groups. You should have received an email with your assigned location, but you can also stop by the Info Table (near steps of Kreger Hall) if you aren't sure.
11 am - 1:30pm: Various Academic Department Meetings. Check the schedule for information on your academic department.
There are additional, non-required events between 1:30 and 4:15 pm, so check the schedule for those!
4:45 pm: Love and Honor Celebration. Free t-shirt, food, and other giveaways, as well as the Class of 2021 "M" photo on the field. There is parking located relatively close to the stadium at Millett Hall.
Additionally, the non-required "Welcome hoMe with Late Night Miami is happening across campus in several locations starting at 8 pm and ending with fireworks at 10:45 pm. Events include Dodgeball, Yoga Under the Stars, Succulent planting, an Escape the Room, and a movie on the lawn at Lewis Place.

- 9am - 12 pm: First Year Takeover in Uptown Oxford
- 2 - 3:30 pm: Rise Against Hunger
- 8 pm - Midnight: Armstrong Palooza
Sunday, August 27, 2017
The only program that ALL new students are expected to attend on Sunday is:
3 pm - 4:30 pm: It IS My Place, Millett Hall. Commuters will meet at the East Central entrance of Millett at 2:45 pm (the entrance closest to the large parking lot).
Note that there is also a Transfer and Relocation Student Social from 6 to 8 pm in Shriver as well.
