| A Note from PAC Leader Kim Pederson
I recently found a quote that accurately summarizes my life in patient advocacy. “Life is like sailing, you never point the bough of the ship at the finish line. You tack to make the journey. Each day you tack to get the greatest reach given the prevailing winds of the day.” - Robert Ballard There are prevailing winds right now in healthcare, making the journey for our patients and us in supporting the patient experience difficult. I find myself ‘tacking’ to navigate daily tasks, but move forward with the patient and family at the helm. It’s exhausting work and not for the faint of heart. We have been called to this work because we endure. We may have to rework the passage, but we will stay on the course to assure those we serve are treated with quality and compassionate care. Interestingly, the author of the quote, Ballard, President of the Institute for Exploration and Ocean Exploration Trust, is best known for his discovery of the Titanic. Kim Pederson
