Roberts School Boys and Girls Club Joins 4-H Art Club

Roberts Boys and Girls Club members in first and second grade had the opportunity to join the 4-H Art Club. The club will meet over 6 weeks and explore different types of art media! They learned in week 1 about colors and had the opportunity to apply what they learned by painting suncatchers. In week 2, the youth learned about pastels and practiced techniques, and compared oil and chalk pastels. It was unanimous that chalk pastels were the preferred media of the group.

Cloverbud Pumpkin Contest

Cloverbuds will receive pumpkin seeds to plan for the annual pumpkin contest held in the fall. It will be on a Saturday in October. Pumpkins are evaluated on being the largest, roundest, smallest and other categories. Club leaders will receive seeds to distribute to all the Cloverbud members in their clubs. Along with the seeds, the cloverbuds will receive tips on how to grow the pumpkins.
If you don’t have room to grow pumpkins, the seeds can be planted in the community gardens located on the corner of Grove Street and Pioneer Rd in FdL. If you’d like to reserve a spot, please call the Extension Office at 920-929-3171.

Fond du Lac County Junior Park Ranger Program

Fond du Lac County Parks Department is starting a hands-on program in our county parks for children. This program will be our “Junior Park Ranger” program. It does not require children to do any “work”, but it is intended to get kids visiting and enjoying our county parks system.

This program is beginning now and will continue on through the end of summer. The program will wrap up on September 8, 2024. Each child must complete their own activity to earn their points. Earning points will get them prizes. Each activity completed is worth 10 points. There are three opportunities worth 5 additional bonus points each.

The prizes are as follows:
60 points = Junior Park Ranger keychain
120 points = Junior Park Ranger T-Shirt

To redeem prizes, the child would bring one of the attached sheets along with photo evidence of completion to the Parks/Planning Department, located at the City/County Government Center. The address is 160 S. Macy Street in Fond du Lac. The office is located on the 4th floor. All prizes must be redeemed by September 30, 2024.

We hope to get the children in our community involved and interested in our county parks system! Please help us in promoting this program!

Volunteer Shout Out Campaign

National Volunteer Week, celebrated in April, is an opportunity to salute you, the 4-H volunteer! Thank you for giving your all to make your club environment a place where young people can belong, grow, learn, be challenged, have fun, and give back. Your passion to make the 4-H experience meaningful and memorable is commendable. The 4-H program would not exist without the volunteers! We will be celebrating in various ways throughout the week of April 21-27. One way to help us celebrate all the wonderful volunteers is to nominate a volunteer you would like to recognize for doing an awesome job! You can nominate them by filling out a quick form online or emailing Tracy a photo of the volunteer you are nominating and why you are nominating them. Find more information here https://fonddulac.extension.wisc.edu/thank-a-4-h-volunteer/.
