Blouin Scholars Class of 2027 Travel to Ireland |
The Blouin Scholars Class of 2027 is concluding an immersive 19-day travel study in Ireland, building on months of meaningful work within Stark County focused on the intersection of poverty and post-high school aspirations. In Ireland, students are examining how educational systems and community-based organizations address similar challenges, offering a powerful comparative lens on access and opportunity.
Throughout their journey, the scholars have engaged in thoughtful dialogue and knowledge exchange with faculty, staff, and administrators at Carlow College St. Patrick and Mary Immaculate College in Limerick. Students also connected with leaders at St. Catherine’s Community Centre and learned directly from members of the Traveller community, gaining insight into cultural identity, systemic barriers, and advocacy efforts. They also rolled up their sleeves in service, assisting with meal preparation and distribution at St. Clare’s Hospitality Kitchen—an experience that brought their academic inquiry into direct human context.
