Awesome Apples Foods Revue
On June 22, ten youth showcased their awesome apple recipes at the 2021 Foods Revue. There were youth of all ages from kindergarten to one year out of high school. The Foods Revue teaches the youth so many life skills. Youth practice culinary skills, while preparing their recipes, as well as setting up a table setting for displaying their food items. Entries ranged from desserts to entrées such as apple pie, apple crisp, caramel apple cinnamon rolls, apple salads, and even a bacon apple grilled cheese! Youth also had the chance to complete a plant identification contest. This contest quizzed youth on identifying different fruits and vegetables. The judge also provided information about each fruit or vegetable such as flavors, how to prepare it, and when it is in season. Youth are judged on the menu plan - a variety of colors, printed recipe, presentation, and garnish, table setting - functional and completeness, theme development - creativity and centerpieces, and knowledge of the prepared food item.
Each category is awarded a best of class and then there is a best of show winner selected. Jeb H won best of class for Cloverbuds with a Raspberry Applesauce Jello. The best of class for grades 3-5 was Julia T with Caramel Apple Sweet Roll. Ebbie T took best of class for grades 6-8 with an apple pie. Grades 9-13 best of the class was Kaylee M with her Bacon Apple Grilled Cheese. Best of Show was awarded to Ebbie T. The foods revue also has foods photography and centerpiece categories. Julia T won best of class in photography as well as the centerpiece class.

Register your Crunch to make it official, add to the Crunch count, get the scoop on purchasing and serving local apples and receive the Crunch Guide and weekly newsletter. Schools, ECE sites, hospitals, colleges, groups, and families are invited to crunch to reach our goal of 1 MILLION CRUNCHES this year!
Noon on Thursday, October 14, 2021 is the official Crunch date, but we welcome your Crunch any time this October. No event is too small to register for! If your Crunch is not hosted by a school or organization, skip any questions that don’t apply to you.
