Marie's Message
Hi All, At this point until March 31, we are still working under the current guidance of less than 10 people in inside spaces. You can find that information at 4-H FAQs HERE.
Thanks for a great leaders association meeting this week. Along with the regular business meeting, it was great to hear the highlights, lowlights, and insights of what 4-H members are doing in clubs. I appreciate your comments on where we are going with 4-H and program plans, I was able to share your comments with the program manager this week and she had also put it in the request that she sent to UW Madison CoVid Task force, so I am optimistic that we will be able to have some more typical meetings later this spring.
I also want to share that CoVid had changed some programming and some of those will probably remain as options in the future even beyond CoVid. I would encourage you to check out the Virtual Learning Community Calendar HERE and see what opportunities are available. It is a great chance to learn items that may spark your child/members interest and meet some new friends from across the state!
We have the county project kits available monthly. The registration is due on the 15th of the month prior. The registration for April is due on March 15. The kits are based on the curriculum available to clubs so any of the projects would be great to share at club meetings and possible to exhibit at the county fair.
Please feel free to contact me with questions, and I look forward to a great 2021! Marie Witzel 4-H Youth Development Educator marie.witzel@wisc.edu 920-210-3080 I am following Wisconsin Department of Health Services, UW-Madison, and federal guidelines due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak. I am working remotely and am also available by phone at 920-210-3080.

YOUTH & ADULT VOLUNTEERS NEEDEDSeeking volunteers willing to teach on a Zoom for the 4-H Family Learning Fun 2021 in March. The Zooms we did in January were so much fun! We had positive comments about doing more, but that won’t happen unless we have volunteers willing to do them. Extension Dodge County will set up the Zoom. All you have to do is plan your activity. Date options are: March 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, or 30 at either 6pm or 7pm. They only have to be 40 minutes to an hour long. We would like to encourage any young people to consider doing this also. Take your demonstration and turn it into an opportunity for 4-H Family Learning Fun! Contact Ellen Bohn at ebohn@co.dodge.wi.us or 920-386-3790 for more info.

- “What Makes Better Bubbles: The Bubble-logy of Skim vs. Whole Milk” What does a “better bubble” mean to you? Can you design a fair experiment to determine how milkfat affects milk bubblicity?
- “Milk Fireworks: Is Milkfat Really Needed?” When we look at milk, we see an opaque, white liquid. We can’t see that milk is actually a colloid made up of many solids suspended in a liquid. What are the solids in milk and how do we test they are there? Join us and come be a ‘Scientest’ as we use our Kitchen Science Savvy to experiment with milk fireworks and explore some of milk’s inner workings.
