Pre-Health Advising Announcements
|
Hello future health professionals!
As the semester continues, we encourage you to stay connected: to your goals, to your community, and to the resources designed to support you along the pre-health path. Progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. Small, intentional steps, like seeking advising, engaging in service, or prioritizing your well-being, can make a real difference as you prepare for a future in the health professions.
Mid-semester is a great time to study smarter, not longer. If your science courses are starting to feel content-heavy, try switching up your approach. Teach a concept out loud (to a friend, a pet, or an empty room), sketch pathways or mechanisms from memory, or use quick, low-stakes self-quizzing instead of rereading notes. These active learning strategies strengthen recall and understanding and they save time. Don't forget about GW Academic Commons when you need an expert perspective on your study habits or the material.
All the best,
GW Pre-Health Advising Team

Experiential Opportunities |
Primary Care & Social Media Internship Opportunity
Marwah Tareen, MD, is a primary care physician practicing in downtown Washington, DC. She is currently expanding her social media presence focused on primary care, women’s health, and medical education, and is looking to partner with motivated GW students for a flexible social media–focused internship in the primary care setting. This is an opportunity for students who are social-media savvy, creative, and interested in medicine to help grow meaningful health content while learning how modern primary care and digital health intersect.
This internship is flexible and can be done largely on the student’s own time. In return, Dr. Tareen offers close mentorship, exposure to real-world primary care, guidance on the medical school application process, and a strong letter of recommendation for students who are committed and engaged. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring future physicians and would love to connect with students who are eager to learn, create, and grow alongside her. They can contact her via her email: marwahtareen@gmail.com.
