Texas Tech Human Development and Family Studies Newsletter
Welcome
Welcome to HDFS Buzz, the newsletter of the Texas Tech University Department of Human Development and Family Studies! As we close another wonderful semester, we are preparing for summer and look forward to furthering our ground-breaking research and academic learning opportunities. Our students are gaining hands-on experiences to enrich their knowledge. You can read more about these kinds of experiences in a nursing internship story below.

This semester our program was named to the 5 Best Colleges for Human Development Majors in Texas. Dr. Elizabeth Trejos-Castillo was one of four Texas Tech faculty members to be named a Fulbright Scholar. Over the past several years, the department has seen our research accomplishments blossom—you can review the recent findings from our SMITTEN lab. We are thankful for leaders who nurture the path of many students, as we have seen a semester full of accolades.

Thank you for taking the time to read about the latest news in Human Development and Family Studies. Look for our next issue of HDFS Buzz. I encourage you to send us your latest news and accomplishments.

SMITTEN Lab Studies Newlyweds and Dating Relationships
SMITTEN Lab Studies Newlyweds and Dating Relationships
The SMITTEN Lab began in 2007 when Sylvia Niehuis joined the Human Development and Family Studies faculty. Along with a group of bright, committed graduate students, Niehuis began a longitudinal study of newly married couples and a study of dating couples. Disillusionment, passion and shared reality are some of its current research topics.
