OHIO shares a message of support following a recent student death

Dear Bobcats,
The Office of the Dean of Students is deeply saddened to share news of the passing of OHIO student Mason Bohm, a freshman within the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. OUPD will this tragedy, which they do not believe represents a threat to the safety of our community. They encourage anyone who may have recently interacted with Mason to contact them via phone (740-593-1911) or email ().
As our Athens and University communities continue to process this unexpected death, our entire team would like to share a reminder of the campus outreach and resources that stand ready to support you as we work together to uplift one another in the days and weeks ahead.

Our Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) staff members are here to help our University community connect to a wide range of on- and off-campus support resources, including 24/7 emergency and crisis services.

CPS will host processing and discussion spaces today (9/15) in Lindley Hall 058 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- If you are experiencing acute distress or have an urgent need to speak with a counselor: Call CPS at 740-593-1616 (24/7). Their team is also available after hours and throughout weekends and holidays.

Drop-In Hours: CPS offers same-day drop-in appointments for new or returning clients M-F, from 9:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Hudson Health Center (3rd Floor). You can also call 740-593-1616 to speak to a counselor during drop-in hours.

“Let’s Talk” hours are also available this week through Friday at the Living Learning Center, Room 160, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. – no appointment necessary.

As we process this loss together, remember to prioritize self-care and to always look out for one another. If you know of someone who needs well-being support, we encourage you to consider sharing a CARE referral with our CARE Team. This team is led by our Dean of Students office, and your support helps us ensure we can respond with the appropriate resources to keep all in our community safe.
