Jeremiah 9:23-24
This is what the Lord says:“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
    justice and righteousness on earth,
    for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.

New International Version (NIV)
Did you hear about the rooster that crowed each morning as the sun rose?  He eventually thought he was causing it to rise.  We can be like that. What makes us most proud?

Jeremiah wept over the brokenness of his people.  When they should have been humble, they boasted in their wisdom, strength and riches.  Jeremiah corrected them.

If we are going to be proud, let us boast in the Lord, that we have understanding to know him.  What do we know when we know God?  God is kind, just and righteous.  When we know him we become like him.  How are we doing?

 Pray with me:
Father, forgive our false pride.  Teach us to boast in you.  Thank you for allowing us to find you and know you.  Make us kind, just and righteous for your glory alone we pray, in Jesus’ name.  Amen!
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
