Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
New International Version (NIV)
Why shouldn't you be afraid?  It is a scary world, right?  Bad things happen every day.  The news tells us of dangers and disasters and we are tempted to cocoon.  Where will we find safety?

Joshua had reasons to fear, too.  All he had to do was succeed where Moses had not.  Get the people into the promised land.  Never mind the giants.  No one could blame him if he were anxious.

God gives Joshua real reasons not to fear.  The God who has called him is faithful.  Joshua is not alone.  Neither are we.  God who sends us goes before us, walks with us, protects us and loves us.  We shouldn't be afraid!

I can hear the voice of our Lord in the voice of his singer-servant Wintley Phipps.  "No need to fear.  Don't fear!"

 Pray with me:
Father, from our anxious world we cry out to you with hope and confidence.  You are with us, always with us.  Today we choose to live in the courage that you alone can give.  Thank you for giving us your Son, and leaving your Spirit until the work on earth is done.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
