Concord's Independent Bookstore Since 1898

Weird times

It seems strange to be sending out a newsletter as if things were normal. They certainly aren't. But we're still here, hoping that a combination of personal responsibility and strong, swift government action will take us to the other side of this crisis with the least possible disruption and loss of life.
As of this writing, we are closing to the public, and only doing online fulfillment, curbside pickup, and the occasional delivery as appropriate.  We want to do whatever we can to help flatten the curve and keep this pandemic from overwhelming our country and world. Scroll down for some important details about our 99-cent shipping, curbside service, and availability for personal recommendations.
New books continue to be published! This is an especially strong week, with new novels from Emily St. John Mandel and N.K. Jemisin, non-fiction from Barbara Ehrenreich and Robert Reich, and for comic relief, a satirical novel from Jessica Anthony. Click on the cover art below and buy these books from us!  And buy our gift cards, also available as online only gift codes. They'll still be good when this crisis abates. We need your continuing support.
So many of you have gone to our website to do online orders. We can't tell you how much we appreciate this. Please keep it up!
The reality on the ground might have changed by the time you read this. The 24-hour news cycle has become a 24-minute cycle, and it's hard to keep up. We'll do our best to keep you updated in real time.

Gibson's Bookstore and the COVID-19 crisis

We want you to know what we are doing during this developing crisis. The health and safety of the public and of our booksellers is of primary importance. We're following the dictates and advice of responsible medical and state authorities.
1) We have reduced our hours. Gibson's will be closed to the public, but open for curbside service only, Tues-Sat., 10 AM-4 PM.  We're open for online business 24/7.
2) All of our public events, including book club meetings, have been cancelled or postponed, through events scheduled in mid-April. We'll be assessing later events as we move closer to them--we're in close contact with those writers and publishers now.
3) We encourage everyone to shop our inventory from home, via our website (www.gibsonsbookstore.com), or just email or call to ask what we have in stock, or could order for you.  We will have 99 cent shipping on all orders over $10 for the foreseeable future, and also offer free curbside service. Just call 603-224-0562 or email gibsons@gibsonsbookstore.com to arrange any of these services. We'll be here from 10-4 Tuesday-Saturday for sure, and before and after those hours to do inside work, including deep cleaning.
4) Call us for recommendations! Our non-book inventory is not generally featured on our website, but we have one of the best collections of toys and games in the area. Call us up to talk it over!
5) We also encourage everyone to buy our gift cards (which are also available as online gift codes).  These are essentially IOUs that we will satisfy when things get back to normal, but for now they provide essential cashflow for when we need it the most.  Again--support local businesses!

Let's all stay smart, stay safe, and stay healthy. We can get through this if we all work responsibly together!
