The Honors College has announced its first class of The Action Scholars Program, which brings together first- and second-year Honors students to research, build and implement plans to address community challenges. Action Scholars receive ongoing mentorship, professional development and unique learning opportunities over the three-to-four-year program.

Electronic W-2s are now available online for all active Clemson employees. W-2s can be accessed through Employee Self-Service. Employees who did not consent to receive their W-2 electronically will be mailed a paper copy of their W-2. Paper forms will be mailed by January 31.

Chemistry professor Joe Thrasher and two long-time collaborators have received a national honor from the American Chemical Society for their work on high-performance lubricants that keep machinery running under extreme conditions, leading to new materials and a portfolio of patents.

Today is National Puzzle Day, which celebrates all types of puzzles, from jigsaws to crosswords. However, many people often do not realize the mathematics and logical thinking that go into creating and solving these puzzles. Two faculty members in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences — Neil Calkin and Eliza Gallagher — decided to make the connection more explicit by teaching puzzle classes, including their “Puzzles and Paradoxes” Honors seminar.

The Office of Research Development is requesting faculty input to guide training and support strategies that advance their research. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete and will close on February 6. Individuals conducting research, scholarship and creative endeavors are encouraged to complete the survey.
