Good morning! The Clemson 8 Challenge starts tomorrow to honor the University's known prisoners of war. A new registrar has been announced, Athletics hosts a full slate of events this weekend and more. 

• The fifth annual Clemson 8 Challenge begins Saturday, March 8 at 9 a.m. at the Military Heritage Plaza on Bowman Field. Created in part by the late Honorary Brigadier General Ben Skardon, the Challenge honors Clemson’s 25 known POWs from all wars. Those interested in participating can still register for the event.

• Today, Clemson will host an open forum (Zoom link) for Monica Holland, a finalist for the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, from 11 a.m. to noon.  

• Athletics is hosting a slate of home events this weekend, as women's soccer hosts a spring match against Tennessee, softball starts its three-game series against Duke and more. Check out the Athletics calendar to stay updated for all upcoming events! 

• Following a national search, Rock McCaskill (pictured left) has been named Clemson University’s registrar, a position he’s held as interim since January 2024. McCaskill has over 30 years of experience in higher education administration, including as the university registrar at Southern Wesleyan University and Armstrong State University.  

• Charles Privette (pictured right) has been named interim director of the South Carolina Water Resources Center after more than 26 years at Clemson. Privette, currently serving as chair of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, takes over for the retired Jeffery Allen. 

• Thank you to Lt. Kevin Magin (pictured right) and Firefighter Nace Carnesi (left) for supporting the statewide efforts to control wildfires and protect the citizens of South Carolina. They were deployed to Horry County to assist with wildfires on Sunday. 

• The Clemson University Police Department is hosting Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D) classes March 10 and 12. Open to students, faculty and staff, the R.A.D. course teaches hands-on training and how to take an active role in self-defense and psychological well-being. Email Nicole Rife to sign up.
