St. Michael's Families,

As we enter a rhythm with our 3rd week of virtual learning, we wanted to update you on how two of our Extended Programs (Extended Day & After-School Enrichment) are here to help support our school community during these unprecedented times. We are excited to introduce new opportunities below for students to engage socially and creatively in the coming weeks! All St M students are welcome to join in the fun! Don't hesitate to reach out with questions. -Ashley Buffey, Director of Extended Programs

EXTENDED DAY

Virtual Meet-Ups

To address the social-emotional needs of our students and their desire to spend more time virtually with classmates, we are excited to announce that we will host grade level live meet-ups for all interested students starting tomorrow with all your favorite Extended Day teachers for community time, games, and more!

Live Google Meet chat schedules will be listed in the weekly newsletter, and meeting links will be posted on the Extended Day Google Classroom (code: hqkrqac) under "Classwork." Meet-ups will occur weekly from now until the end of the school year. There is no fee. This is a moderated, safe space for students to gather with friends, and we will adjust based on popularity. See below for this week's schedule.

Wednesday, April 8

  • Kindergarten, 3-3:45 p.m.
  • 1st Grade, 4-4:45 p.m.
Thursday, April 9
  • 2nd Grade, 3-3:45 p.m.
  • 3rd Grade, 4-4:45 p.m.
Friday, April 10
  • 4th Grade, 3-3:45 p.m.
  • 5th Grade, 4-4:45 p.m.

Middle School families, we know grade-level social meetings and optional lunch bunch opportunities with Mrs. Stargell were shared with students last week for social interaction. Please let us know if your child would be interested in us organizing a Middle School grade level meet-up.

At-Home Activities

We know that parents are also looking for more ways to keep kids engaged, so we've put together some of our favorite, mostly screen-free, activities for indoor and outdoor fun on the Extended Day Google classroom page. From art and science to nature and cooking (Hello, Foodie Fridays!), we will continue to update the collection in the weeks ahead!
All Dragons are welcome to DROP IN at no charge using Google Classroom code hqkrqacClick the Classwork tab for inspiration!

AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT

YogaFiber Arts, and Music Lessons have been moved to a virtual learning space. We were intentional in selecting programs that could be offered remotely while fostering a sense of calmness, focus, or meditative movement to ease student stress in the midst of social distancing.
If your child registered in early Spring for these after-school opportunities, you will receive instructions soon.
If your child is not registered but would like to participate, please contact me before Monday, April 13. Registration fees apply. All students K-8 are welcome to join!
All other after-school enrichment programs will be refunded based on services not rendered. Refunds will be pro-rated if any classes were held before Spring Break. Our online registration system is quite a bit backlogged nationally, so we're waiting on the ability to process refunds and will reach out personally as soon as you've been credited.
