American Sign Language interpretation provided by Jacqueline Corey
Life has plenty of obnoxious circumstances. Most of us can readily list at least a few things that consistently annoy us. As a countermeasure, author T. Wise recommends a quick reset that he calls a “pet fave.” The opposite of a pet peeve, he defines a pet fave(orite) as “that kind of thing that we love because it’s just satisfying or on point.” This practice of recognizing the minor details that please us can ground us in small reminders of joy and connect us to one another in appreciation.

Beauty and My Ill-fated Kayaking Trip by Rev. Jim Coakley
Sometimes the universe gives you one of those perfectly beautiful days in which a sense of the sacred surrounds you everywhere. Unfortunately, at those very same moments our self-absorption and ego often won't let us appreciate it. Come let me tell you about one such day while kayaking a few summers ago.
At last weekend’s services, we collected $558.45 for Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build. If you missed the opportunity to contribute please drop off or mail a check payable to Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship with Habitat noted in the memo field, no later than Friday July 12, 2019. Your contribution will help support Habitat for Humanity’s effort to provide safe, decent, affordable housing for families. Thank you for your support!

Wednesday, July 24th lineup starts at 5:15 pm; parade starts at 6:00 pm
Tye Dye Party on Sunday, July 21st after the service
The children's parade is a fun way of involving families and children to have a parade to themselves! While it is focused on children, we invite anyone of any age to join us in the parade to represent UU while giving company to the children. We are going to be making tye-dye shirts so we have a theme and we will be making signs of our seven principles. The parade will go to City Park, with small activities at the end. You are all invited to design your bikes or scooters anyway you would like. Sign up at the Sign Up Spot if you are interested in attending either days. Contact Nick Schiller at nickgschiller@gmail.com with questions or click HERE for more information. This event is being organized by the Fellowship Multigenerational Committee.
Upcoming Programs
Cancer Support Group
Saturday, July 6, 3:00 pm
This group is for cancer survivors and those who are recently diagnosed. Our purpose is to provide a safe place to talk about our experiences, emotions, and thoughts without judgment from others. It is a place where each person is valued for one’s individual journey. Our focus is moving forward in a positive way through sharing of spiritual and mind/body information/practices that have helped us. Another focus is spiritual growth through finding one’s passions, living in the present, and viewing the whole person. It is a place to support those going through a difficult time.
