Why YLC Is Significantly Needed
“Unfortunately, I never found something like YLC while I was in college, and as a result there were many consequences. Not only did I not have a relationship with Jesus and no real direction in my life, I was also going down a bad path…” - Steve Myrah, YLC Committee
More about Steve's college experience
& why he serves on YLC committee:
Entering college (U of M), I was looking to fit in. For the first time in my life, I had full control to do whatever I wanted and unfortunately it led to me chasing all the wrong things. Partying with friends was my life. A relationship with Jesus was the furthest thing from my mind. This eventually left me barely getting by in classes and feeling empty. I experienced academic probation, got in trouble with the law, lacked overall direction in life, and ended college one credit short of getting my degree. Most concerning, I never formed deep relationships that could help me transition to adulthood. YLC would have filled an enormous void in my life during that time.
My goal being a part of YLC committee is to help to further the mission of finding the lost. There are a lot of students out there experiencing college like I did, and my sincere hope is that YLC can continue to grow and reach more and more of those students so they can truly begin living out their college years with purpose. Supporting this incredible ministry has a direct correlation to money raised and the number of kids positively impacted. Not only does YLC change lives, but also has the ability to change entire family trajectories by simply forming deep relationships with the lost and pointing them towards a relationship with Jesus Christ at arguably the most important time of their lives!
While I did not have a YLC experience, I was fortunate to find a relationship with Jesus shortly after starting to date my now wife Tasha. My life is so much fuller, and purpose driven now, I know that many people who made similar choices to me didn’t have that same fortune. YLC is needed at the U and all metro colleges and my dream for the ministry is to continue to grow so lives can be positively impacted before it’s too late!
