Student Donates Stem Cells to Save a Life |
|
|
Saving a life was not what James Rinello, KSAS '25, would have expected to be doing at the start of 2023. But at the end of last year, James received a call from Be The Match, part of the National Marrow Donor Program, telling him he was a match for a cancer patient. James jumped at the chance to help.
He had joined the Be The Match Registry in the spring when the JHU Football team sponsored a recruiting drive to add donor names to the registry. Most of the time, donors like James are able to donate stem cells through a non-surgical, outpatient procedure. As word has spread, James has appreciated hearing stories of how people have been touched by a marrow donor.

Health and Well-Being Newsletter |
This Week in Well-Being is JHU's weekly well-being email newsletter. Each edition features event listings, resources for students and trainees, blog posts by Student Health and Well-Being staff, and stories from the Hub. We know that all students can benefit from focusing on health and wellness as the days are shorter and class rigor ramps up. We hope you'll consider subscribing to learn more about how you can support your student's well-being!
