Exodus 40:34-35
Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.  Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.
New International Version (NIV)
A grandmother lived with her daughter and her family.   In recent years, she became very ill and grew weaker.  Her granddaughter read Deuteronomy 31:6 over her reminding her of God’s promise of his presence.  She went home to be with the Lord this week, but not alone.  Not only was she surrounded by family, but God was with her, just as her granddaughter told her.

God promised his presence to his people.  Again and again we hear him saying to his servants, “Don’t be afraid.  I will be with you.”  At the end of Exodus we find God faithfully keeping his promise to his people, with them in a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night.  Only when God moved did they move.    When God stayed they stayed with him.

Our only hope today is in God’s presence.  He has promised not to leave us.  Trust that promise.  Let us be sure to stay close to him today.  The life of a Christian disciple is a “with God” life.  We choose to be with the God who chooses to be with us in his Spirit.  I have no doubt God will be with us today.  Will we be with him, consciously with him?

Pray with me:
Father, let us become more aware of your presence and let us experience the glory of your goodness.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
