2 Kings 19:14-16
Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.  And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord: “Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.  Give ear, Lord, and hear; open your eyes, Lord, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to ridicule the living God.
New International Version (NIV)
When you face an impossible situation what do you do?  King Sennacherib of Assyria threatened Israel reminding them of his previous victories.  He went so far as to say that God could not protect them from his armies.  What would you do?

Hezekiah took the letter and spread it out before the Lord in prayer.  Then he acknowledged God's power and asked him to intervene so that the nations would know that the Lord alone is God.  Notice that Hezekiah was more concerned for God's reputation than for his own safety.

What if we took our really difficult problems and spread them out before the Lord in prayer?  Wouldn't he see and answer.  Last night at camp I received word that a good friend and brother in ministry has received a difficult diagnosis.  I will not wait until tomorrow to spread this out before the Lord asking him to heal my friend.  I trust that God will answer.

 Pray with me:
Father, nothing is too difficult for you.  Today we place before you all the things beyond our control, because we know that you are in control.  Teach us to trust you.  You are our only hope.  Your love and power will always be enough for us.  In Jesus' name. Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
