Lamentations 3:24-26
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
    therefore I will wait for him.”

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
    to the one who seeks him;
it is good to wait quietly
    for the salvation of the Lord.

New International Version (NIV)
               One frenetic pastor was asked by his wife why he was so agitated.  He answered honestly, “I am in a hurry and God is not.”  How well do you wait?  Have you ever found yourself in God’s waiting room?
                Jeremiah had an honest dialogue with himself as he waited on the Lord.  Even though we do not yet have what we have asked from God, we still have the promise of his presence.  We also know that the Lord is good and working for the good of his people at all times.
                So how do we wait well?  We wait quietly.  “Quiet please, too much has already been said . . .”  Notice that we wait for his salvation.  Henri Nouwen said, “Like and expectant mother, we are not diminished but enlarged by our waiting.”  God is trying to form Christ in us.  This takes time.  Sometimes it means being still and knowing that God is God, and we are not.
Pray with me:
Father, teach us to wait before you in expectant hope.  Continue the work of making us like Christ.  Let the promise of your presence give us patience to wait for you to act.  Help us not to short-circuit the process by getting ahead of you.  Immerse us anew in your goodness.  Slow us down long enough to find your plan.  We pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
