Dear Families and Friends of the DCC,

I am beyond thrilled to share that the Denver Children’s Choir and Vocal Coalition Youth Choirs (VOCO) have officially come together as one unified organization. This is so much more than a merger—it’s a bold joining of forces that expands our capacity and opens the door to building the most affirming and impactful youth arts programs in the Mile High City. Our diversity will be our greatest strength, and the excellence of both programs will only improve the quality of what we can offer Denver youth.

As the first Artistic Director of this new chapter, I’m both humbled and energized by the chance to carry forward the Denver Children’s Choir’s legacy of choral excellence while embracing VOCO’s one-of-a-kind, culturally relevant, wellness-based approach. Staff from both organizations will learn from one another, lift each other up, and work alongside our singers to create the most meaningful experiences possible during these formative years.

I believe youth choir should be a place where every child feels seen, safe, and celebrated; where they can discover the magic and power of their own voice; where they can learn the joys and challenges of community across differences; and where the love and guidance of caring adults give them lessons—and confidence—they can carry with them for a lifetime.

Together, DCC and VOCO can “change the game” for youth arts in Denver, offering singers real choices in how they want to express themselves (including the chance to participate in both programs!) while inviting our broader community to witness and celebrate their brilliance in new and exciting ways. Singing is the tool, but building them up is the goal.

I cannot wait to see what DCC, VOCO, and our young people create together in the months and years ahead. Thank you for trusting us with your children and for walking with us into this bold new chapter. Here’s to the music, the growth, and the lasting impact we will build—together.
