In 2012, Colorado and Washington became the first states to legalize recreational Marijuana for adult use, and a number of other states have since followed suit. Today, 1 in 5 Americans live in a state where recreational Marijuana is legal. For some time now, the decision of legalizing Marijuana in each individual state has been left in the hands of the states. Recently, the federal government has now stated that they will enforce prohibition of Marijuana in states where the substance is considered legal.
Conflicting laws and policies that continue to evolve make the subject a difficult one to understand.
