Carline Safety: Please Help!

For the safety of our faculty and students, when arriving in any of the carpool loops, please pull up all the way TO THE FIRST CONE (and not directly in front of the school doors) when dropping students off in the morning/picking up in the afternoon.
As well, once you come through our school gates, St M's carline is a CELL PHONE-FREE ZONE!  More and more parents are arriving distracted on their phones and we greatly need your help. Thank you!

Free Speed and Agility Trial Class for Grades 2-8

Does your child play a sport? Would your child benefit from training to become faster and enhance skills to change directions with precision, all while improving posture and becoming more confident? Sports are dependent on strengthening and conditioning. St. Michael's has brought the skill of speed and agility to campus. We are offering training sessions with nationally-certified top trainers from Overtime Athletics, where your child will be assessed and trained to improve their skills.  Your child can work towards maximum output with a trained professional. So run, don't walk to sign your kid up today!

Select and arrange any weeks that fit your schedule. Open registrations are for Grades 2-8.  Options and pricing* are as follows:
  • 4 Wednesday sessions per month (March, April, May) $125.
  • 4 Friday sessions per month (March, April, May) $125.

Lenten Service Learning

St. Michael's all-school service learning project is underway, February 22-March 14, to benefit SHOOD.
Shood's Mission: Shood collects men's and women's new and gently used running shoes, reconditions, and distributes them locally to those who are homeless or living in poverty in Richmond, VA.

St M Service Project: Collecting shoes and personal care items to be given to guests at upcoming Shood Share Giveaways.
Collection:
  • Grades K-3: Small nail clippers
  • Grades 4-5: Small containers of foot powder
  • Middle School: Small containers of sunscreen
Students will collect items in their classrooms in the Lower School & by both main doors to the building in the Middle School.
Shoe Donation Bins will also be on site. We are collecting new and gently-used adult running shoes and track spikes.

Card Project:
Students will create inspirational cards for Shood Share guests and student-athlete runners supported by the Shooding Stars Program.

Lower School Dragon Dialogues: March 1, 8:15 a.m.

Children are clamoring for smartphones and their own social media accounts at younger and younger ages. In addition, children are able to communicate with friends (and strangers) via gaming consoles, internet-based computer games, and tablets. These platforms are tricky for adults to navigate, but for children, the likelihood of negative outcomes is even greater. Let's gather to talk about practices to put in place to protect elementary-age children from the social and emotional tolls of technological communication. Even if your child does not have access to technology at home, they may encounter it in their social circles. The more adults know, the better support we can be for our children.
Join Michael Jones, St. M's Director of Technology, Dr. Hilton, and Mrs. Geier on Wednesday, March 1, 8:15 a.m. in the Lower School Library, as we discuss technology best practices for families.   Please RSVP HERE.

Shutterfly Share Sites Update

For many years, our classrooms, grade levels, and yearbook teams have utilized Shutterfly Share Sites for capturing St M memories and photo sharing.
Shutterfly recently announced that they are discontinuing Shutterfly Share Sites and effective March 25, 2023, all Share Sites will be deactivated and users will no longer have access to Share Sites content.
St. Michael's is currently working on a school-supported alternative. In the meantime, we encourage families to download whatever photos/albums they may personally want from their grade level Share Sites BEFORE March 25.
