Love is a six letter word: EFFORT
“So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day.”—Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
When love and marriage are successful and sustained, it’s never an accident–and it’s not based on feelings. Let’s be honest. If led by our feelings alone, some days are going to be bad. Diapers pile up, jobs let us down, and pressure can make the “love magic” tough to find.
Sparks said it best–love requires effort: consistent, determined, God-inspired effort. And if you want that “happily ever after,” you’ll have to give it some elbow grease. But it pays off.
Where can you offer your spouse a little extra effort in the love department today?
