CTY Alum Takes on Hopkins Affiliate Rebrand
Christopher Morales ’11–’14 spent nine summers with CTY, first as a student at CTY at UC Santa Cruz, and later as a resident assistant at UC Santa Cruz and Loyola Marymount.
Today, he is a brand manager for Omelet, a creative agency in Los Angeles. Soon after joining, Morales embarked upon a rebrand for Jhpiego, a JHU-affiliated nonprofit dedicated to improving health care worldwide.
| |
“I collaborated closely with Jhpiego and our design partners to define a new digital identity, brought to life through a redesigned website and a suite of social and email tools,” Morales said. “The look is a true call to action, amplifying the voices of the communities Jhpiego serves and inviting global involvement.”

Meet Math Instructor Darby Calm
Darby Calm leads students in grades 6-9 through Excursions in Pre-Algebra, an online CTY course that embodies our innovative educational style.
“This is not the average math course,” she said. “As the instructor, I help students find inspiration in mathematics in the world around them. Together, we combine math, culture, history, and real-world applications like baking, and I challenge them to use mathematical patterns in art, create their own number systems, and scale up recipes for entire populations. I get to hold space for the students to connect with their curiosity and creativity.”

Thank you to the AT&T Foundation! When CTY sought funding for our Baltimore Emerging Scholars program, which identifies high-potential Baltimore City Public School students and provides them with advanced coursework, the AT&T Foundation responded with a generous $50,000. Their investment revitalized “A Connected World: Digital Literacy in the 21st Century,” a course that introduces fifth-grade students to essential tech skills, software applications, internet safety, and more. The gift supports materials, family engagement, and administrative support and helps to lay the groundwork to scale the program to additional schools in the future.
