Psalm 103:20-22
Praise the Lord, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
    who obey his word.
Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
Praise the Lord, all his works
    everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
New International Version (NIV)
Psalm 103 begins and ends with praise!  What gift would you give to a King?  David, who is a King, has told us that God is a loving, forgiving, healing, redeeming King.  No wonder David praises him.

David commands the angels to praise Yahweh, the Lord.  Who are these angels?  They are mighty, they are available for God's purposes and they are obedient.  In synthetic parallelism, David continues with the heavenly hosts or angel armies.  Who are they?  They serve God and do his will.  Most of all, all of these angels belong to God, so he addresses them as "his angels, his heavenly hosts."  In fact everything belongs to the King.  All his works, everywhere in his dominion are to praise God.

If the angels and the whole world belong to God, so then do we.  And if he owns our very lives, surely he deserves our praise.  My soul is mine, yet I belong completely to God who created and redeemed me.  So if the angels praise and the whole earth praise God, so should I.  C. S. Lewis says that our praise not only expresses but completes our enjoyment of God.   When you come to God today, be sure to
bring the sacrifice of worship and praise.  These are gifts which are fitting and worthy of our great King.
Pray with me:
Sovereign King, you are holy, holy, holy.  The whole earth is full of your glory.  And you have given us a front row seat to glory as you have revealed yourself to us in Jesus our Lord.  Thank you for so loving us that you gave your only begotten Son.  Rule, our King, without rival in our lives.  We belong to you.  Help our lives to demonstrate how much we love you.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
