GLMS Foundation partners with Dare to Care, Elevating Emergency Food |
Each month, Dare to Care’s Fern Valley Road location distributes 1,000 emergency boxes to individuals and families facing food insecurity. To help maximize the nutritional value of these emergency boxes, physician members of the GLMS Foundation Community Health and Wellness Committee developed scannable QR codes that offer simple, practical recipes using only the items included in the box, highlighting health benefits. This month, the Foundation delivered 10,000 QR code stickers to Dare to Care, allowing recipients to easily access the full set of recipes in English and Spanish as well as a “food locator tool” which directs them to nearby food pantries and fresh market locations.

Louisville Medicine upcoming themes: |
March 2026 – due 2/1 – The Ripple Effect: Peer Support Strengthens Physicians
Medicine can be isolating, making mentorship and peer support vital. What qualities make a great mentor? How can experienced physicians guide the next generation, and how can early-career doctors build meaningful mentor relationships? What community groups or networks provide support and connection for you?
April 2026 – due 3/1 – The Double-Edged Sword of AI
As AI becomes integral to health care, challenges like bias, errors and misuse arise. What safeguards ensure accuracy, equity and responsible use? How do we balance innovation with caution, particularly when patient outcomes are at stake? How can we adapt thoughtfully, ethically and humanely to this new era?
Please reach out to Kathryn Vance at kathryn.vance@glms.org if you’d like to share your thoughts in an upcoming issue.
