Restaurant Survey Results

After a month of collecting over 1,000 responses, the results of the Engage Owatonna Restaurant survey are in.  This data has been shared with current developers and will be used for future interest in restaurants. 

Growth Breakfast Tackles End of Session Questions

What happened at the end of session?  Why weren't they able to pass anything with huge surplus dollars?  Hear from those who were there.  
Join us on June 16th at 7:30 a.m. for the final Chamber Growth Breakfast in this series at Torey’s Restaurant and Bar downtown Owatonna. Event cost is $20.
The legislative panel will include Senator John Jasinski, Representative John Petersburg and Laura Bordelon, Sr. Vice President Advocacy, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

Students Sign On to Work Locally

Thirteen seniors were recognized at Signing Day at Torey’s on June 1. These students made the decision to enter the workforce directly after high school graduation and were hired into full-time roles. Employers representing students included Advanced Coil Technology, Federated Insurance, R&K Electric, Climate by Design International, Welker Custom Homes, and MTC Services.

National Cutting Horse Association rides into Owatonna for their event at the Steele County Fairgrounds June 24-26th! All Chamber members are invited to their meet and greet the night before, on June 23rd at 5:30 at the Foundation Building. Join the Cutting Horse Demonstration, and meal served at 6pm. Haarstad Joins Chamber As Summer Intern

Welcome to Hillary Haarstad who will be working with us as a Summer Intern.  She will gain a myriad of experience by working with each staff member while she is here. 
Hillary just graduated from Owatonna High School and will be heading to UW-La Crosse in the fall to major in marketing. She was involved in many activities in high school, one being DECA.
The internship was made possible through a grant from the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

Beautifying Owatonna

Flower Baskets went up at the end of May. The fresh new colors this year are awesome and something that everyone can enjoy while walking or driving downtown. Thank you to all who donated – we are already raising money for next year’s baskets.  Many thanks to our community partners Cedar Valley Services, Soubas Greenhouse and the City of Owatonna Parks & Recreation for working together with MainStreet to help beautify our city.

Hundreds Join First Downtown Thursday

People gathered in the streets and park to enjoy music, food and spending time with others. Thank you to Metronet  for sponsoring all 3 Downtown Thursday events as a Market Sponsor.
Thanks as well to KOWZ & KRUE Radio and Garlick’s Water Conditioning for sponsoring the entertainment in Central Park, The Jeremy Poland Band and Edward Jones for their sponsorship of Jeff Reinartz on the Cedar Avenue stage. Thank you to Skjeveland Enterprises for donating the use of garbage receptacles and The City of Owatonna for providing and delivering the picnic tables. Rounding out the sponsors are Foremost Brewing Cooperative and Owatonna Shoe.
