Welcome to the Spring 2023 issue of The Global Gaucho, UC Santa Barbara Education Abroad Program’s newsletter highlighting all things related to study abroad. EAP has provided over 20,000 students the opportunity to live, work, and learn internationally, and continues to support the life-changing and transformational experiences that bring our worlds closer together. Studying abroad takes an act of courage, and rewards us by expanding our awareness, adaptability, and impact as a global citizen.
In this issue we celebrate achievement over the past we celebrate achievements over the past year, new program developments, remarkable alumni stories, tales from recently returned students, and the unparalleled impact of our EAP supporters, who have made so many of these experiences possible.
This year EAP also celebrates its 60th anniversary! Did you know the first cohort of UCSB EAP students studied in Bordeaux, France in 1962-63? Now, over 1,000 students study in more than 40 countries each year!
