Message from Jackie Bucsi
Girls learn so much through Girl Scouting—independence, teamwork, and creative problem solving, just to name a few. Girls develop a strong sense of courage, integrity, and values—all while having fun and making lifelong friends.
The more involved girls are in Girl Scouts, the more they learn, and the more outcomes of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience they accomplish. All of our Source events, camp, travel experiences, and Product Programs focus on specific learning outcomes. Through these activities, girls not only have the time of their lives, they learn skills that will last a lifetime.
This spring, we're exploring all the ways a girl can be a Girl Scout. We have added a new way to participate, called Troop Connect, where parents and staff members partner together to provide an amazing troop experience. We are also working with Girl Scout Juliettes and their mentors to improve the Juliette program, and adding Juliette-specific events in all of our regions. And always, we are gearing up for an unforgettable summer at camp—filled with old favorites and new adventures.
With so many options, there's sure to be something that fits every girl's lifestyle! Have questions about any of these options? Contact any of our regional centers, and someone will be happy to help you choose one that's right for your family.
Yours in Girl Scouting,
Jackie Bucsi - Chief Membership and Program Officer

Girl Scouts Save Lives!
Amelia, a 6th grade Cadette from Troop 80345, sprang into action when a classmate was having an asthma attack during band class. She saw that he was scared, having trouble breathing, and didn’t have an inhaler, so she kept him calm while making sure he received proper medical attention. What makes Amelia’s story especially awesome: she learned these skills when her troop completed their First Aid Badge! The girls decided to learn about how to recognize symptoms and get medical attention for things like allergic reactions, diabetic shock, and asthma attacks. Her mom and troop leader said, “You teach all of these badges and you don’t know how much it’ll make a difference – this shows that Girl Scouting really matters.” The school recognized her maturity, level-headedness, and caring with a Classy Deed Award. Way to go, Amelia!

Celebrate National Girl Scout Week with us!
It's gonna be so much fun! There's something to do everyday, either on your own or with your troop. Just look above at all the fun themes for each day! This is also a great time to wear all your awesome Girl Scout gear, t-shirts, earrings, and more! Let's show off our fantastic Girl Scout family to everyone.
Girl Scout week is celebrated each March. It starts with Girl Scout Sunday and ends with Girl Scout Sabbath on Saturday, and it always includes the Girl Scout Birthday. The Girl Scout Birthday is on March 12, and commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization's first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia. This year, 2016, represents our 104th birthday!
Girl Scout week is the beginning of when the Girl Scouts established “seven days of service” which continue to guide us today as we discover, connect, and take action.

“Thank you for the cookies! I shared them with my unit and everyone is very thankful for them. Your support has made me feel the Christmas Spirit in a place where I really didn’t expect to...”
—A serviceman upon receiving a gift of Girl Scout Cookies.
Thank you so much for participating in Hometown Heroes. Hometown Heroes donations say “thank you” and “we’re thinking of you” to people in often thankless jobs and those stationed far from home. Your girls will understand the importance of this program the moment they place a box of cookies in their Heroes’ hands.
Participating in Hometown Heroes is easy. Simply enter donations on your order card, or have a donation container at your cookie booth. And don’t forget... girls still earn 60 cents per box, through April 25, for Hometown Heroes donations. Make sure your girls understand the importance of Hometown Heroes, and are prepared to discuss it with their customers. And when they make Hometown Heroes deliveries, be sure to take a picture of the big smiles on everyone’s faces.
As sisters in Girl Scouting, we understand the many ways that girls benefit from selling Girl Scout cookies. With every transaction, girls learn how to set goals, make decisions, manage their money, work with people and be ethical. Hometown Heroes allows Girl Scout cookies to work even harder. When cookies are donated to our Hometown Heroes program, they say “thank you” to our local fire fighters and police, and even military stationed overseas. Has your troop ever seen the gratitude in the eyes of any of these heroes as they hand them their cookies? It is a life-lesson the girls will never forget.
