2017 CATCH Award Winners
Last December, we recognized three outstanding CATCH users for the inaugural CATCH Awards for Excellence in Health (CATCH Awards). The awardees (for community, regional, and state health) were Providence St. Patrick Hospital, Illinois CATCH onto Health! Consortium, and Healthy U (New Jersey). Winners will receive the "CATCH GO Bowl" trophy and get to select a new school or site to receive a scholarship to implement the CATCH Program. Congratulations!

CATCH Coordination Kit Now on CATCH.org
PLUS New 9-Week Schedule Version
We're excited to announce that the 2nd Edition of the CATCH Coordination Kits – Elementary and Middle School – are now available digitally on CATCH.org. Schools who already own a Coordination Kit can access them online at no additional cost. Just fill out a brief form here to request access.
Note: You must own a physical copy of a CATCH Coordination Kit in order to get online access.

Elementary schools on 9-week schedules, we’ve heard your requests and are pleased to announce the new 9-Week CATCH Elementary School Coordination Kit! If you already own the 6-Week Kit you can get access to the 9-Week resources via CATCH.org for free (see form above). Impressive Results Show CATCH
is Working in El Paso
With continued support from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and a new grant from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, phase 2 of the Ysleta ISD CATCH Project expanded CATCH to 23 additional elementary schools (for a total of 60 schools) during the 2016-2017 school year.
Phase 2 yielded many exciting health outcomes, including: - Time spent in moderate-to-physical-activity (MVPA) in P.E. classes increased 84%.
- Students who scored in the healthy fitness zone for aerobic capacity increased significantly from 47% to 63%.
- Students showed increases in fruit and vegetable consumption, drinking water, and choosing lower-fat milk over whole milk.

CATCH My Breath Program Update Addresses JUUL E-Cigarettes
The CATCH My Breath Youth E-Cigarette Prevention Program has been recently adapted to match current trends within the E-cigarette industry. The program now specifically addresses JUUL E-cigarettes – a popular new E-cig with a discrete design mimicking a USB device.

CATCH.org Updates
- This newsletter isn’t the only thing that got a facelift this year! The revamped Eat Smart School Nutrition Guide guide is more reader-friendly and displays photos from various CATCH communities across the country.
- The CATCH Elementary and Middle School Coordination Kits are now available in their entirety on CATCH.org. (Note: You must own a physical copy of a CATCH Coordination Kit in order to get online access.) The Elementary Coordination Kit now comes in a 9-week option, in addition to the classic 6-week program.

CATCH Breaks Ground in Dominican Republic
A new flag has been added to the CATCH map – the Dominican Republic! We're thrilled to partner with the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living at the UTHealth School of Public Health to bring CATCH to public schools in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
