Happiness is something that can be difficult to find in life, no matter what. Having a rare cancer can make it infinitely harder. In this episode of NETWise, we're going to talk about what happiness means, and how cancer can affect the way we think about it. We'll also talk about the things we all can do to be more resilient.

Thrivership: Sharing your Story |
Sharing a diagnosis is a deeply personal decision and can have a range of emotional, social, and professional implications. In this Thrivership episode, we navigate some of the considerations of this process and also talk with a few people living with neuroendocrine cancer as they share their experiences and perspectives. Watch the episode here.

We Want to Hear from You! |
The neuroendocrine cancer patients' and caregivers' voices matter to NETRF. We ask what you want to learn at KNOW YOUR NETs each year. This has resulted in NETRF's most successful NET patient conferences.
We'd like to build upon that success in 2025, but we need your help. You are the experts in living with or caring for someone with neuroendocrine cancer. You know what you want and need to learn to help you on your journey.
NETRF would like your feedback to plan another successful KNOW YOUR NETs conference. Please take 5 minutes to answer this brief survey. The survey will close on February 25.

Advancing Education for NEC Patients |
|
|
| We’re excited to announce a grant from Boehringer Ingelheim to address critical gaps in education and support for neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) patients and caregivers. These funds will allow us to enhance and expand our patient education resources in meaningful ways:
|
|
|
-
Revised Patient Guide: A new edition with expanded information on NECs, offering patients and families comprehensive, up-to-date resources to navigate their diagnosis and treatment options. The guide will also be translated into Spanish to improve accessibility for non-English-speaking communities.
-
NETWise Podcast Episodes: Two new episodes featuring expert discussions, patient stories, and thrivership strategies tailored to NEC patients and their caregivers.
- Thrivership Resources: Practical tools addressing the unique challenges NEC patients face during treatment, helping them maintain quality of life.
-
Specialist Database and Knowledge Center Updates: Enhancements to our online NET Knowledge Center and specialist satabase to include NEC-focused content and specialists, empowering patients to connect with expert care.
|
We’re grateful for this partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim and proud to deliver these much-needed resources to the NEC community. Stay tuned as we bring these projects to life!

| Let's "Pay it Forward" with the NETRF NET Guide |
Thanks to a generous grant from Harry Proudfoot and the Walking with Jane Foundation, NETRF is launching the Pay It Forward Pilot Project. This initiative empowers patients to educate their healthcare providers about neuroendocrine cancer, to improve awareness and early detection. Here’s how it works:
|
|
|
-
Patients who request a patient guide will receive two copies—one for themselves and one to share with their primary care physician or healthcare provider.
- Each will include a personalized letter—one for the patient and one for the physician. Physicians will get links to additional resources, including our NET Knowledge Center and INCA’s THINK NENs online medical education.
-
We will ask patients and caregivers to let NETRF know who they have shared the booklet with, helping us track the project’s reach.
|
This initiative extends the reach of the patient guide to primary care physicians, especially in areas with limited access to neuroendocrine specialists. By fostering these connections, the Pay It Forward project will help improve awareness, early detection, timely intervention, and better patient outcomes.
If you do not have a NET patient guide, you can request one here.
We are grateful to Harry Proudfoot and Walking with Jane Foundation for supporting this vital project. Stay tuned for more updates!
