Welcome     Grow     Serve    Celebrate

Welcome, Azalea!
We are delighted to welcome a new little one to our PHUMC family. Azalea Marie Daniel was born August 14 at 12:05 am to Anne Marie and Cortez Daniel. Big brother is Tezzie!
Everyone is healthy and home, and we look forward to meeting Azalea. Anne Marie is currently on maternity leave with an expected return date of Sunday, October 18.

Building Projects Update
Leadership Board met Wednesday, August 12 and received an update regarding our building projects. While there isn't much to share, know that plans are moving forward for the building of our porte cochere. The final plans are drawn and the architect is currently meeting with an engineer and the City of Madison to finalize all necessary information and approvals so that we can submit for permitting and begin to get bids on the work. Thank you for your continued giving as we prepare for a new addition to our campus as well as work to repair and update our current facilities. To date, we have received $33,095.00 designated for these upcoming projects.
Acolyte Training
Serving as an acolyte is one way our children aid in worship and grow and learn in their faith.  Acolytes remind us of Christ's presence by bringing in the light of Christ as we begin worship together.  As we prepare to depart, they remind us to carry Christ's light with us in the week ahead.  Children in 2nd through 5th grade are invited to join Jennifer in the worship center at 9:30 this  Sunday, August 23, to learn about this important part of worship and step into a new role within the life of their church.

KAIROS Prison Ministry is your chance to serve!
The weekend of October 8-11, 2026, the KAIROS Ministry team will again be the hands and feet of Jesus. Free-world women will work with and serve the women of MCIW (Mississippi Correctional Institute for Women) in Pearl.
We will enjoy singing, talks, discussions, prayer, and Scripture with the ladies. Our motto is: listen, listen, love, love. God will be there and will work through our agape love to touch the hearts of the women.
Please join us and have your life changed as their lives are changed!
Training starts September 4th.
See PHUMC KAIROS Ministry Leader Connie Starkey (601-941-3654) for more information and an application.
You will be blessed by this experience!
It's Almost Time!
Our Wednesday Night Re:Treat begins Wednesday, September 9 with a meal at 5:45 pm followed by another round of Bingo! We hope you will mark the date and join us to enjoy a meal prepared for you and an evening of fun and fellowship to get to know your church family.  Meals are $9 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under with a $30 family max.
Leadership Board will meet at 6:20 in the Garden Room following the meal September 9.
Fall Bible Study
There has been some interest in a study on the Book of Revelation and as luck will have it, Parkway Hills already has numerous workbooks from "The Efird Bible Study Series" for Revelation. James "Mickey" Efird was one of Pastor Dawn's professors while she was at Duke and had a love of sharing the story of the Bible. You can learn more about Dr. Efird in his obituary here.

There will be two options for this study. You can join Dawn Thursdays at 10:00 am in the Garden Room beginning September 10 for an 8 week study, or make plans to join her in the Renew Sunday Morning Small Group at 9:30 am beginning Sunday, September 13.  The Sunday morning study may take longer than 8 weeks.

We have begun our 2026-2027 school year, so our children would love for you to volunteer to teach them, even just one Sunday!  This is a small commitment with a great reward! Follow the link to sign up and bring a friend.
For more information about any of our kids' ministry events contact Jennifer.
