ParentMap readers and their families are invited to celebrate the opening of “Designing Motherhood: Things that Make and Break Our Births” — a special exhibition that explores the arc of human reproduction through the lens of art and design. Featuring more than 200 objects, this exhibition brings together contemporary artists and designers to examine the evolution of rights and societal norms connected to contraception, pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences over the past 150 years, highlighting that birth — and the culture that surrounds it — impacts every living person.
Drop by for the Feb. 15 opening celebration to check out the exhibition, join a tour, participate in take-action activities led by local organizations such as Days for Girls, PEPS, Perinatal Support, Seattle Design Nerds, and WestSide Baby, and enjoy refreshments.
You'll also hear live music by Jeannie Rak, a Thailand-born, Seattle-based singer-songwriter who performed as a busker at Pike Place Market.
