CABINET LETTER FROM DR. ALUMBAUGH
Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Friends of De La Salle,
As you are all aware, we greeted the Lenten season with a beautiful Ash Wednesday prayer service that asked us to contemplate as a community our commitment to God, self, and others during this Holy season. As a reminder, all families received a message on February 25th inviting them to join us every Friday, throughout the season of Lent, for our 7:45 a.m. mass in the De La Salle Chapel.
At this point in our academic calendar, almost every DLS student has met with his academic counselor to enter course registration requests. As always, we encourage students and families to consider both interest and reach during course selection. As you know, we are scheduling across seven academic periods for our rising Sophomores and Freshmen, and all section/course additions are likewise open to Juniors and Seniors.

March Drug & Alcohol Abuse Awareness & Prevention
The month of March ends with National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week. This year, De La Salle and Carondelet are presenting a Parent Education Night with Debbie Berndt, Director for Parent Movement 2.0 and Substance-Free Athletics.
In her keynote presentation, “Marijuana 101, Fentanyl and Parenting Strategies for the 21st Century” Mrs. Berndt will provide the latest science regarding substance abuse and its impact on adolescent brain development. Substance use disorder is now understood to be a childhood-onset disease that can have profound effects on teenage mental health. This keynote will provide parents with strategies for countering these effects and explain how current research indicates parent influence is one of the most important protective factors when it comes to preventing underage substance use.
Date: March 14th at 6:30 pm in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation on the Carondelet campus. RSVP to attend the event virtually, or in person.
