From the Ranch House

Monday Winter Golf Course Meet Up!
Want to get out and enjoy everything RVR offers in the winter, especially with all the great snow? Join a group of residents every Monday for an outdoor adventure on the golf course: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or walking. Meet at the north end of the golf course parking lot at 8:45 a.m. We’ll explore the front nine, back nine, or both! Each nine can be done in about 75 minutes. Come prepared to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and hopefully meet some new neighbors.

Holiday Décor Removal
As a kind reminder, it is almost time to take down your festive holiday decorations! Per the RVR Holiday Lighting policy, "Lighting may be on until January 31. Holiday yard ornaments/décor, visible holiday lights and house icicle lights must be off and removed by January 31. Outdoor tree lights must be turned off after January 31, but homeowners have until March 1 to remove tree lights."
Green Tip
Please enjoy the following eco-friendly tidbit brought to you by Friends of the Environment:
Governor Polis declared January Radon Awareness Month. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is urging all Coloradans to test their home for radon. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. It is created in the soil as part of the radioactive decaying process of uranium and it seeps into our homes through cracks in foundations, holes around drains, or crawl spaces. Once it’s in your home, this colorless and odorless contaminant becomes part of the air that you breath. This is why it’s important to either hire a professional radon contractor to test your home or purchase a DIY test kit.  Most kits require all windows and doors to remain closed while testing, making January the perfect month to do it. If elevated levels of the deadly gas are detected, you will need to install a mitigation system. So protect yourself and make this the month to test for radon.
Ranch House
Temporary Closure

Composting at the Ranch House
We are delighted to share that we are now composting at the Ranch House. RVR resident and owner of EverGreen ZeroWaste, Alyssa Reindel, has helped us to create a compostable friendly environment at the facility. We have made changes to paper goods available including cutlery, cups and gym wipes. Look for signage near trash containers to help you sort your waste to the correct bin.
We would also like to extend a big thank you to Ali Royer, Director of Programming and Community Engagement, for researching and implementing these changes so we can to do our part to reduce landfill waste!
For anyone interested in composting at your home, it is offered via EverGreen ZeroWaste and via Mountain Waste .

Fitness

Group Fitness Classes
As the budget was being written in 2022, the board and management felt that a nominal fee for fitness classes would help to offset instructor costs, which have been increasing. Beginning on Monday, Jan. 30 there will be a $2 per person charge for group fitness classes.
