Creative Director Garrett Thompson Named a
2015 VMSD Designer Dozen Award Winner
VMSD magazine’s Designer Dozen awards celebrate 12 up-and-coming designers age 35 years or younger who are driving the future of retail design. Winners are selected from design firms and retail organizations across the country, highlighting the retail design industry’s best and brightest young talent.
We are proud to anounce that our Creative Director, Garrett Thompson, was selected for the 2015 VMSD Designer Dozen. Garrett's unique design sense, creative flare, and overall tireless work ethic make him the extraordinary designer that he is. Managing the team here at Richardson and meeting constant project deadlines, he simultaneously strives to be the best mentor possible for younger designers at the firm. A 2006 graduate of the
Cleveland Institute of Art in their Interior Design program, Garrett interned with Richardson Design as a student and worked at Interbrand-Design Forum in Dayton upon graduation. He returned to Richardson in 2011 as Creative Director, where he leads the team under the direction of Scott Richardson, Principal Designer and Garrett's former CIA instructor.
Garrett resides in Strongsville with his wife Megan and dogs Rachel and Zephyr. He is actively involved in the
Muttley Crue Rescue based out of Berea, Ohio, a pit bull rescue dedicated to rescuing homeless, death row, and owner surrender dogs (which also takes in any breed). His creative ability extending far beyond the workday, Garrett creates artwork for the charity to raise money at auctions and events.
The award winners were celebrated at an event held in their honor last month at GlobalShop in Las Vegas. They also appear in this month's April issue of
VMSD magazine, available
here, showcasing each designer profile. Congrats Garrett!
