When necessary, time-sensitive notifications are shared via Anchor Updates and on the Vanderbilt Facilities social media.

Plan your route, another portion of Garland Avenue closed until September |
To continue progress with the Central Utilities Initiative Phase II and to deliver resilient, upgraded utilities to the Historic Neighborhood part of Garland Avenue is closed until September 2026.
Commuters can use a two-way temporary road located off 24th Avenue South to access Stevenson Center Lane. There is clear, marked pedestrian paths throughout the area. The proposed pathways are highlighted in dark blue.
The western end of Garland Avenue will close from Monday, June 22 through Monday, November 9 for installation of thermal, storm, sanitary, electrical and telecommunications utilities. Lot 18, adjacent to Olin Avenue, has been reopened, allowing closure of Lot 16 south of the Studio Arts building so utility work can continue in that area.
Additional traffic control staff and signage will be deployed during the closure. Temporary pedestrian pathways will be highlighted and separated from construction areas by perimeter fencing to maintain safety and accessibility.
Transit operations will also be adjusted. Bus drivers will be rerouted to Highland Avenue to access Stevenson Center Lane and the Vanderbilt University Medical Center roundabout near Eskind.

25th Avenue Closure Coming Up |
On July 27, 25th Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The closing will be from the entrance of the Kensington Garage to Highland Avenue.
Commuters should access this section of campus by:

- Blakemore to 25th Avenue South to Highland Avenue to 24th Avenue to Garland
- Blakemore Avenue to 24th Avenue to Garland Avenue
- West End Avenue to Natchez Trace to Children's Way to 25th Avenue or 24th Avenue South

Partial Lane Closure on 24th Ave. |
To install a new pedestrian sidewalk, one lane of 24th Avenue will be closed until July 26. One lane will also be closed from August 3 - March 27.
Pedestrian traffic will remain along the existing west sidewalk until the new sidewalk is completed. Flag guards and signage will be present to direct traffic and pedestrians so please be on the lookout for all safety signage.

| Baker Building Garage closed for July
The Baker Building parking garage is closed until Friday, July 31 for restorative repairs. The repairs require full closure of Baker garage for the entire month.
Alternate parking is available at Terrace garage and Lot 5A & B. Golf carts have also been relocated to Terrace garage.

Electrical Outage Set for West End Neighborhood
An electrical outage is planned for the West End Neighborhood on July 21-22. During this outage, no electricity will be available in the Greek Life living area.

Vanderbilt Place Closed for Repairs
The northeast end of Vanderbilt Place will be closed until July 31 for paving and striping.

Kensington Garage Staircase Closed
The staircase in the Kensington Garage will be closed for repairs until late August. The lot will remain open for parkers while work is ongoing. Please pay attention to your surroundings and follow the posted signs to navigate the area.

Portion of 25th Avenue to close overnight on July 7
25th Avenue South near Garland Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7 until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8 to install a crane at the Central Neighborhood Residential College construction site.
This work will occur overnight to be as minimally disruptive as possible. Commuters are advised to plan ahead and follow the detour signs.

Historic Core Neighborhood |
Above grade demolition is complete at the Stevenson Center 6 construction site and foundation work for the site is scheduled to begin on August 19.

Tower crane erection to occur July 17-19 at SC6 |
The SC6 tower crane is scheduled to be erected from Friday, July 17, through Sunday, July 19. The new McTyeire-area parking lot will remain available Friday, July 17, though short closures may occur as an assist crane is positioned. Access through the VUMC ‘gothic door’ will be maintained with traffic control, but pedestrians may experience brief delays.
The parking lot and gothic door access will be fully closed July 18–19 while crane components are delivered and assembled.

As Vanderbilt Athletics continues its reenvisioning through its Vandy United campaign, a handful of projects are occurring in the Frist Athletics Village.
Hawkins Field is undergoing a renovation which includes the permanent closure of lot 71 along 25th Avenue South. This renovation includes a new three-story structure to replace the right field bleachers, increased seating capacity, new spaces for the team, staff, and coaches, and an enhanced fan experience.
As a reminder Jess Neely is permanently closed to vehicles; the good news is it is now a beautiful pedestrian pathway.

An electrical outage is planned for McGugin Center on July 22- 24 from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Martha Rivers Ingram Commons Residential College |
It’s been a busy time at the Commons Residential College site. While work is ongoing, the crew was able to celebrate more progress during the “topping out” of the building, which marks the moment a building's highest structural point is completed.
The sitework will continue throughout the summer break.
To ensure everyone's safety, it is critical that members of the community stay vigilant and aware of their surroundings and use caution when they're near any construction site.

Hot Water Outage Planned for Peabody |
A hot water outage is planned for Peabody campus on July 28th from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. During this outage, no hot water will be available in Cohen, Jesup, North, Gillette, West, East, Wyatt and Memorial.

Pedestrian, Vehicular Routes to Change near Wyatt Center |
The entrance, stairs and sidewalk of the Wyatt Center along the Peabody Esplanade are closed until Friday, July 31 to install storm drains and new hardscape.
South Drive along the back of the Wyatt Center is closed until Friday, July 31 to install storm drains, sanitary lines and to widen the roadway.

- The parking garage at The Villages remains open and accessible from South Drive.
- Noisy activity on South Drive will not begin until 8:00 a.m.
- The reminder of South Drive is now a dismount zone; pedestrians should dismount bikes and scooters in the area.
- Signs are posted to distinguish the dismount zone.

Peabody roundabout to close until August for underground utility work |
The roundabout and connected sidewalks located between Memorial, Stambaugh, East and Crawford Houses are closed until August 2026.
Exits facing the roundabout at Crawford, East, Stambaugh and Memorial are closed until the start of the 2026-2027 Academic Year. The adjacent sidewalks, noted within the red lines, are also closed. Pedestrians should follow the signs in and around the buildings.

Roberts Academy and Dyslexia Center at Vanderbilt |
The Roberts Academy and Dyslexia Center at Vanderbilt continues to make significant progress with the commissioning of building systems, interior finishes, final painting, landscaping, and hardscape work underway. The project is on schedule to welcome faculty, staff, and students for the 2026-27 academic year.

Temporary sidewalk and lane closure along Children’s Way |
One lane and one sidewalk of Children’s Way will be closed until August 1, while renovations are made to the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center courtyard.
The sidewalk will be closed for the entire length of project, while lane closure will be as needed. Flag guards and signage will be present to redirect vehicle and pedestrian traffic so please stay safe and be vigilant of any construction projects.
