What is the OSIC?
You may have heard talk about the ‘Office of the Surgeon-In-Chief’ (OSIC) and wonder, what/who is that and what does it do for us?
The OSIC was created in 2018 as a way to coordinate and execute the vast and unseen work going on behind the scenes to elevate MCJCHV as a top tier institution for surgical patients.
The roles within the OSIC include members of key areas within MCJCHV that make up our Surgical and Perioperative divisions: Associate Surgeons-In-Chief, Chiefs of Surgery, Perioperative Nursing Leadership, Children’s Hospital Clinic Leadership, Clinical Business Administrators, and a Communications Specialist. By way of structure and regular communications, the OSIC is able to gain a boots-on-the ground perspective on issues effecting staffing, supply shortages, communication gaps, crisis management, among a myriad of other functions that smooth out daily challenges we face on the 3rd floor. New Cerebral Palsy & Spacticity Program
The CPSP program is designed for children with increased muscle tightness and other spasticity symptoms. Our team includes experts in all established methods of spasticity treatment and pioneers in new treatment techniques. In one visit patients see multiple spasticity specialists in a multidisciplinary approach. The visit may include visits with a physiatrist, neurologist, developmental pediatrician, physical therapist, neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon. Our goal is to provide care that will optimize a child’s physical abilities. The clinic coordinator helps schedule appointments and gathers medical records and test results. We guide patients through their care plan. Our hope is to enable a child to reach his or her fullest potential. - Angela White, MSN, Program Manager
